Why Should I Buy Your Album???

With Jay-Z's new album coming out and the fact that it leaked a couple weeks ago, I am hearing more and more that we should support our artists and go buy their albums. Well here is my take on it: I love music and there are some up and coming artists that I will definently support. But why do the Jay-Z's and Beyonce's of the music industry need my money? These artists make tons of money through various medians like clothing lines, clubs, spirits, basketball teams, and endorsements. So the $1 or in some cases less that the artists make off the sale of one cd really isn't how they are making their bread & butter these days. It can be argued though that by not purchasing the album the producers, songwriters, & distributers among others don't make their cut and although that is a viable argument it simply does not affect me. My point is that I have no problem buying the album of an up and coming artist, but the people that have already established themselves as powerhouses in this industry don't need my money anymore.
